Our Inquiry Expo

During week 10, I set the children an Inquiry challenge. Choose something that you have learnt this term, and create learning tasks around this learning. You are going to be the teacher, and then...you will teach your fantastic learning to Room 8 during the last week of school.

WOW...

We had the most amazing learning tasks.
We taught Room 8 about different types of water, infiltration, run-offs, water catchments, the water cycle, water choices and lots, lots more! The children prepared quizzes, worksheets, hands-on learning games, presentations and the list goes on. Some children got to leave with a 3D snowflake or a succulent to take home and look after. And this is just a small part on what was on offer. Go Room 9, I'm very proud of you all for working so hard!

I took lots of photos and turned this into a flipagram - enjoy watching.

Below is some feedback and feedforward from Room 8. We have been learning how to give feedback (Something you did really well) and feedforward (the next step, or highlighting and area to work on) in class. Giving each other feedback and feedforward helps us learn.
Hi Room 9,

Thank you so, so much for a fantastic afternoon of amazing learning! We wanted to give you some feedback.

Some things you did well…
  • You created a really cool game and had great questions.
  • You were teaching us really interesting things!
  • Free plants!
  • We liked how some groups had quizzes.

Some things you could improve on:
  • Some people could explain things a little more clearly.
  • Some of the stations could have had more to do.
  • Some of the lessons could have been longer.

You’re unstoppable!

  1. Thank you Ruma Waru for coming to Ruma Iwa to learn more about water. We had fun and I hope you did too. Thanks for giving us some things we did great and things we needed to improve on. You were an awesome audience and I'm hoping we can do it again.
