Board Games and The Amazing Race

We had a great last day of Term 3, with the classroom clean and assembly set up, we were able to play board and card games all morning! Thanks to everyone who bought a game in, I think we will definitely have to do this again - it was very fun!

We spent the afternoon participating in the amazing race that some very persistent and dedicated Ruma Iwa students made - it was an awesome wee competition!

And then ended the day with a goodbye to our latest class member Alazhe :(

Enjoy the photos and the holiday break -

KidsEdChat Challenge

In Room 9 we did the last kidsedchat challenge for the end of the term.
KidsEd Chat is a place for all children from around NZ talk about what they have been doing in class.
I didn't get to post my tweet because it was to late also because I was editing it.
But here is my final quote. I hope you like it:

Results 2014

The winner of the electorate vote is Milly Weir. This wins her a seat in parliament. She is in the Maungaraki Jazz party.

Trailling behin her, in second place, with a 7 vote margin was Tauvaga Siolo. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean he gets into parliament, but it's a nice feeling to know you did well!

Claiming one in 1 seat in parliament: School 1st party, which means that Romana Aung is in parliament.

Claiming two seats in parliament: The Unstoppables, meaning that Jessica Metwell and Sophie Churchward have made it into parliament.

Also claiming two seats is Maungaraki World, which means that Ashleigh Baxter and Zena Church have also made it into parliament.

Also claiming two seats are Maungaraki Jazz, which means that Grace Kitchen and Noah Mingins also make it into parliament.

Winning the party vote is World Wide, which means Al Fox, Prishanti Carter , Sam Montecarlo and  Tauvaga Siolo.

Forming the opposition are Sophie Davey, Neha Dass and Joshua Belcher.

Elections

A huge well done to our 6 political parties who put in a lot of effort to create presentations to introduce themselves, their policies, their financial plans and values. Well done!

A huge thank you to our syndicate pals for making their way over to support us and to our parents who came and voted.
It was awesome to have you here!

Kidsedchatnz Questions

Term 3 - Being a life long learner

Term 3 is almost over, we've had 10 weeks of hard work and plenty of great fun with Kidsedchatnz. Our topics have included reading, gaming, science and family, I've learnt some amazing things from all of the children taking part and it is always proving to me how important it is to be a learner. In class, my children are teaching me how to build things on Minecraft and I'm always learning ways to be a better teacher or parent, but all of this requires hard work.

This week I have three challenges for you before taking part in Kidsedchatnz:
1 - Find or make up a great quote about learning, make it into a poster or meme and share it with us on Thursday.
2 - Talk to another child and identify what they want to be learning in 10 years? Why?
3 - Ask an adult about their learning, what are they learning and how does this make them feel.

Your questions for this week:
  1. What have you learnt about in term 3? Has it been easy or difficult to learn? Why?
  2. What is something (eg a sport, hobbies, cultural etc) that you have learnt outside of school? Why do you do take part in these activities?
  3. What words would you use to describe term 3 for you and your class?
  4. What has been one challenge that you have faced in term 3? How have you beaten this challenge?
  5. Did you have any goals for term 3? How did you achieve them?
  6. What advice do your teachers, friends and families give you about learning? What does it mean? Share any posters or memes you have made.
  7. What goals or aims do you have for term 4 and how do you plan to achieve them?
  8. What do you think you will be doing in 10 years and what will you be learning?
  9. What does it mean to be a life long learner and why is this important?
  10. What are you planning to do for the school holidays?
Your moderator this week will be @Reidteachnz. See you all at 2pm Thursday

The results 2014.

Chris Bishop

Who is that?
Is it Trevor Mallard?
It is David Cunliff?
No, it is Chris Bishop from the National Party.
Chris Bishop came to our classroom to see what we are doing for our inquiry.
We were all really excited and couldn't wait to tell him about our election we are having on Wednesday.
Miss Matich showed him the voting paper and we told him some of our polices.
