Dear Your Excellency,

We are Ruma Iwa from Maungaraki School. We have been learning about you and your role. We are doing an Inquiry unit called, “Having a Voice to Make a choice”, all about the government, parliament, voting and elections. We would like to ask you some questions. We would be very thankful if you took some of your time to answer them. We know you are very busy, so if you can only answer some of them, that would be fantastic!

  1)   We have been learning about your role, but it’s very confusing. Can you tell us what you do in ‘kids speak’?

  2)   What are your biggest roles?

  3)   What qualities do you think make a good Prime Minister/Governor General?

  4)   What is the hardest thing about being the governor general?

  5)   Do you look forward to elections?

  6)   How did you become the governor general?

  7)   Is John Key your boss or are you his boss?

  8)   Do you have a pet? If so, can you tell us about them?

  9)   How many countries have you travelled to being the governor general? And what was your favourite?

  10)                 Have you ever been to the White House in America?

  11)                 What is your favourite sport?

  12)                  If you could change anything in your life what would it be?

  13)                 Do you have spare time or not at all? If you do, what do you do in your spare time?

  14)                 Do you ever get recognised on the street?

And lucky last…
  15)    Do you visit schools? If so, feel free to come and visit us! We could LOVE a visit!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and answer our questions.

Many thanks,

Ruma Iwa Unstoppable Learners.
