Wellington Open Day is back! For one day on Sunday 25 May, entry to participating attractions in Wellington is just a gold coin.
Entry to some of Wellington's best attractions will be a mere gold coin on Sunday 25 May. All money raised on the day will be donated to a charity of each of the participants' choice.
Participating attractions:
- BNZ Museum* - 11am and 2pm tours to view a selection of iconic NZ art
- Carter Observatory - entry into the exhibition for a taster of the observatory
- Circa Theatre - behind the scenes with a backstage tour
- City Gallery - a back-of-house tour to see how they make exhibitions come to life
- Holocaust Centre of New Zealand - a moving experience which tells the stories of the survivors and victims that came to NZ
- Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa - hop on the space multimedia rides
- Museum of Wellington City and Sea - children aged 5-10 can hunt for treasure with prizes for all who take part
- New Zealand Cricket Museum* - Behind the stumps back-of-house tours, Basin Reserve Moments tours and Fire in Babylon film screenings
- NZ Portrait Gallery - vote for the portrait that deserves the Peoples' Choice award out of 61 portraits
- Old St Paul's - a guided tour to hear the wonderful and sometimes quirky stories and hidden gems and secrets
- Reserve Bank Museum - tours of the museum including displays of ancient coins and NZ currency
- Staglands Wildlife Reserve - touch and hand-feed native and exotic birds, animals and trout
- Toi Pōneke Arts Centre* - get a rare glimpse of the wide variety of arts practice and activities that go on behind the scenes
- Walk Wellington - experience the city walk offered daily to national and international visitors
- Wellington Cable Car - reacquaint yourself with the Cable Car and check out the great new terminal and viewing platform at Kelburn
- Wellington Ocean Sports* - youth ocean sports 'have a go' day for 16-20 year olds
- Wellington Zoo - get up close and personal with native treasures and exotic animals
- Zealandia - see why Zealandia is a unique and internationally recognised native wildlife attraction
