Ruma Iwa’s Home Learning - Term 3, Week 2
Handed out: Friday the 1st of August Due: Friday 8th of August
This week during reading we have been reading stories about New Zealand and some of the decisions made in our country. Some of the stories we have read are called:
- Becoming a Kiwi
- Poll Tax in New Zealand
- To Spray or not to Spray
- Our Playground
All of these stories have something in common. That is, they all have a story line of decision making. Everyone makes decisions. Mums and Dads make important decisions for us, Grandparents make important family decisions, Teachers make important learning decisions, and children make decisions every day.
This weeks homework is to think about who makes the decisions in your family and what kinds of decisions are made.
Who decides what’s for dinner? Who decides what time I have to wake up in the morning? Who decides when I should go to bed? Who decides what toys I play with? Who decides if I should brush my teeth or not? Who decides if I should do the dishes? Who decides if I should get the mail from the letter box? Who decides if I should call a friend? Who decides how I behave? Who decides where we live?
In order to organise these ideas, you will need to fill out the venn diagram about decisions. (Over the page)
There are three parts:
1) Make a list of decisions I make
2) Make a list of the decisions we make together (Middle section)
2) Make a list of decisions adults make
The second part of your homework is to
- practise your spelling words
- practise your basic facts using your basic facts rocket
- give someone a compliment
And if you haven’t already - it would be a great idea to show your family your google drive folder and some of the work we have been doing.
Have a great weekend,
Miss Matich
